Meaningful Words
Was actually wanting to blog things down to remember but updated my blog earlier on with my sad proceedings...
Anyway I want to just jot down phrases and lessons that I have encountered or learnt so I will remember for life and if anyone reads them they may get some enlightenment...
I looked through an exhibit in UNISim while waiting for my friends to end their lesson last week. I saw this picture which it shows a chinese phrase quoted from a chinese philoshopher. I find it very meaning full however, I can't remember the phrase exactly and the name of the philoshopher =p...
The phrase is something like...
" You can have the whole world but you only need a house, you can have a mansion but you only need a bed space..."
I really find it very meaningful. I do not know his real context but to me I think it is telling us that we have to know what is Satisfaction... in Chinese there is also a proverb call " 知足常乐" which means when you are satisfied, you will attain happiness. To attain that happiness, you would need to know what is satisfaction, those with greed and always want more would find it hard to attain happiness as they always think that they do not have enough and would do more to get what they desire. I guess the phrase that I saw at the exhibition further elaborates the proverb. It also entails another meaning which is not to be so greedy and get everything, leave some for others. Afterall, we do not need that many things.
Another heard another meaningful phrase on TV and it's through a little girls' mouth...
" Do you know what is love at first sight? It is when you see a person that you want to give in to that person wholeheartedly."
The little girl explained it more clearly with a little more elaboration however, I couldn't pick it up all as it was quite fast... haha
More to come...
